aaaa... well i think the dvd is supposed to come out in July or something, so you won't have to wait too long for it...
China'a good. I haven't really been able to do a lot because, well, i may be in china, but i'm IN SCHOOL in china, so... but yeah the weekends have been good though. THe first weekend I went to this buddist temple where they were having this ceremony at the time, and i also went on a boat ride around the lake that's right in front of our hotel (it's a BIG lake). Last weekend I went to Shanghi, which is very polluted, but really cool. the first day I went on another boat ride on this big river that crosses through the middle of Shanghi, then the next day went to this really famous museum, which was pretty cool. It had a lot of art and sculptures and other cultural things. And it rained, so when i came out, the smog was a little easier to breath. Then I went to these gardens which were AMAZING. The architecture was very chinese, and the gardens were so green and pretty. It was a little confusing, and I have no senses of direction, so the whole thing felt like a maze to me, if it hadn't been for the tour guide I don't think i ever would have made it out. The last day in Shanghi i went to this market (called the wet market), they had fish, frogs, octopus, eels, turtles... and lots of other sea ("wet") food... they were all ALIVE! After buying some fruit there, I went to eat lunch with a local family (it's part of some government program).
It's all been a lot of fun. This weekend, I'm going to a silk city... it's a place called the Venice of China cos they have water canals. I'm not too thrilled about that because i keep imagining that the water's dirty (which is probably will be), but i'm excited to go. The architecture's supposed to be beautiful and they're supposed to have amazing gardens. I'm really looking forward to it; especially shopping for silk!
unfortunately i couldn't make time for visiting the great wall, but apparently that might be a good thing since there's a lot of people this weekend (the weekend I was planning on going) in Beijing for this Dragon Boat Festival, which starts today and goes into the weekend... finding hotels and stuff was a hassle, and it's likely to be crowded.. plus there's way too much to do in Beijing for 2 days... so i've decided some day I'll come back just to go to Beijing for a week or two... that's my plan
...
anyway, it was nice chatting... hey send me a personal note on here with your address so i can send you a postcard... i've been sending a few of them since i got here... i might actually send myself one on the day i leave to see how much faster it get home before it does
